Yesterday, I heard from a reliable source that a new set of apartments in the heart of Bangalore – luxury apartments – were coming up and would be ready in the next year or so. Italian marble, wooden floors in the three bedrooms, 3000 sq ft, small swimming pool, the works. Costing only 15,000 per square foot.
What!? I must have got that wrong.
No, it’s 15,000 per square foot.
Almost 24 hours later, I still can’t get over it.
I had heard that land in Koramangala is going at the outrageous rate of 8000 per square foot, but still… that’s land. The luxury apartments that this woman was talking about are in a very central and posh part of Bangalore, no doubt, but all the same… Fifteen Thousand??? For an apartment?
I’d have passed it off as idle gossip, but for the fact that this person actually owns the site where this block of apartments is going to be built. Amit and I had vaguely harbored notions of buying a flat there, but after she told us the rate, we left quickly, feeling very foolish.
